Start sequential numbering on an established store

The module does not scan or renumber historical orders. Plan a clean boundary between old WooCommerce order references and the first new sequential number.

Choose the boundary

  1. Export recent order IDs and displayed numbers.
  2. Identify numbers used by invoices, accounting, ERP, marketplace, and support systems.
  3. Choose a Starting Number above every range that must remain unambiguous.
  4. Rehearse on staging with the same integrations.
  5. Enable during a quiet order window.
  6. Place two controlled orders and verify all connected outputs.

Changing Starting Number later does not reset an existing counter. Disabling also leaves the counter and assigned order numbers in place; re-enabling continues from the stored last number.

Integration checks

Confirm connected systems distinguish:

  • the internal WooCommerce order ID;
  • the displayed sequential number;
  • invoice or external-system numbering.

Search, webhooks, exports, payment references, refunds, subscriptions, and support tools may use different identifiers.

Rollback

Disabling stops assignment for new orders but creates a numbering gap if orders are placed before re-enabling. It does not remove numbers from completed orders. Do not edit historical order references solely to make the sequence visually continuous.
