Place coupons below the checkout summary

Use Coupon below order review to let customers enter a discount code beside their order summary. WooCommerce still decides whether each code is valid and calculates the discount.

Enable the field

  1. Enable coupons under WooCommerce → Settings → General.
  2. Use a checkout page containing the classic WooCommerce checkout shortcode.
  3. Open Settings → POM Tweaks → E-Commerce → Cart & checkout.
  4. Enable Coupon below order review and save.
  5. Add a product to the cart and open checkout. The coupon field appears below the order summary, and the coupon prompt above checkout disappears.

There are no additional options. Turning this tweak off restores the standard placement unless another customization hides it. Disabling coupons in WooCommerce hides the field altogether.

Use with POM Theme

The field follows the order review in all four POM Theme layouts: the single-column layouts with and without a sidebar, and the step layouts with and without a sidebar. In a step layout without a sidebar, it appears in the payment step with the summary. In a sidebar layout, it stays alongside the form.

Choose Apply coupon or press Enter in the coupon field. Applying a code updates the totals without submitting the order or advancing the checkout step. A valid code clears the field; an invalid code remains available for correction. Notices appear directly below the field. Remove an applied code using WooCommerce's removal link in the summary.

Rules and supported checkout interfaces

WooCommerce's expiry, usage, product, minimum-spend, individual-use and email restrictions still apply. For an email-restricted coupon, enter the permitted billing email before applying it. Applying a coupon does not bypass checkout validation, shipping requirements or payment.

This control changes classic checkout only. The Checkout block keeps its own coupon interface and placement. Other themes can use the control when their classic checkout templates retain WooCommerce's order-review hooks; POM Theme is not a requirement.

Verify and troubleshoot

  • Apply a valid code and check the discount and total, then remove it and check the restored total.
  • Enter an invalid or expired code and confirm that the explanation appears without submitting the order.
  • Check both wide and narrow screens, and the payment step when your layout uses steps.
  • If an email-restricted code fails, check the billing email and the coupon's allowed email list.
  • If the connection fails, retry. Reload checkout if the message persists; the entered code is preserved after a failed request.
  • If no field appears, check that coupons and this control are enabled and that the page uses classic checkout. For a customized theme, confirm that it renders the normal order-review hooks.
