Choose a feed policy
Use Settings → POM Tweaks → Content → RSS feed to decide whether your site publishes feeds and what each post item contains. Enable the RSS feed module and select Save before configuring its options.
Publish and enrich feeds
- Keep Disable all site feeds unchecked.
- Optionally select Add featured images.
- Select Add a custom item header or Add a custom item footer and enter the corresponding safe HTML or registered shortcodes.
- Save and inspect an item with and without an image in a feed reader.
These additions apply to both full content and summaries. They do not decorate ordinary pages or comment feeds.
Publish feeds without discovery links
Select Remove standard feed links and, if needed, Remove extra feed links. Save, then inspect the page head. Direct feed URLs remain available; this policy only changes discovery.
Stop publishing feeds
Select Disable all site feeds and save. WordPress feed URLs now return 410 Gone, including RSS, Atom, comments, and archive feeds. Their WordPress discovery links are removed too. Content options remain saved but have no effect while feeds are disabled.
Clear any page, feed, or CDN cache, then request /feed/, /?feed=atom, and a comments or category feed while signed out. Verify the 410 status. Uncheck the option and save to reopen feeds, or disable the entire module to restore all its controls.
