Prepare and verify a maintenance session
Use Tools → Optimization Tools for a specific maintenance goal. Quick maintenance runs selected tasks directly after confirmation; the individual diagnostics offer more detailed review.
Before changing data
- Confirm the current site shown at the top of the screen.
- Keep relevant plugins and the theme active for accurate provider detection.
- Keep a current database backup. Image-size and temporary-file cleanup also require a file backup.
- Avoid simultaneous imports or maintenance affecting the same data.
- Review the quick-task selection and date, or analyze individual records with a diagnostic.
- Do not treat missing callbacks, absent providers, unresolved routes or possibly unused media as proof of safe deletion.
Database optimization may lock or rebuild tables. Choose a suitable maintenance window.
Apply and observe
- Select Run quick maintenance tools, or select diagnostic results and choose Apply selected operations. Review Confirm maintenance, then choose Run selected operations to start or Cancel to leave data unchanged.
- Keep the page open while batches run.
- Review completed and refused/failed results.
- Use Pause after this batch to stop additional requests. Completed changes remain.
- After a connection error, use Reload report and analyze again before retrying uncertain changes.
Next results page replaces the visible findings. Download a page before leaving it if needed. Quick maintenance retains the latest 30 operation details and cumulative counts. Reports expire after one hour without activity.
Verify the outcome
- Repeat the analysis with the same filters.
- Check that protected newest revisions and autosaves remain.
- Confirm ordinary drafts were not removed.
- Confirm required cron occurrences and argument variants remain scheduled.
- Check the owning feature after disabling autoload and measure its database behavior.
- Inspect content using old image URLs after derivative cleanup.
- Review catalog findings in WooCommerce before changing business data.
- Open the owning settings screen to investigate a settings-integrity finding.
The tools create no recovery backup and do not automatically roll back completed changes. Keep backups until the affected workflows have been verified.
