Add extra WooCommerce product tabs
Use Extra product tabs to add product-specific information such as care instructions, specifications, or delivery details. Store administrators choose the number of available tabs; product editors write each product's titles and content.
WooCommerce must be active. The product template must display WooCommerce product tabs or use a compatible Product Details block with support for extension tabs. Editing the content requires permission to edit that product in the standard WordPress product editor.
Configure the available tabs
- Open Settings → POM Tweaks → E-Commerce → Products.
- Enable Extra product tabs.
- Optionally enter a Default tab title. A populated tab uses this title when its product-specific title is empty. Leave the default empty if every visible tab should require its own title.
- Set Number of tabs, from 1 to 20.
- Click Save.
These settings apply to the current site, including on multisite. The default title supports the framework's translation integration. Product-specific titles and content belong to each product; edit translated products individually when using a multilingual catalog.
Write a product's content
- Open Products → All Products and edit a product.
- Find Extra product tabs below the product editor. If the panel is hidden, enable it in Screen Options.
- For each numbered tab, enter a Tab title or use the configured default.
- Add content in its editor. You can use formatted text, media, registered shortcodes, and supported embed URLs on their own lines. The editor accepts normal WordPress post HTML; arbitrary scripts and unsupported HTML are removed.
- Update the product and open its public page.
Each tab needs content and an effective title to appear. A blank tab does not hide later tabs: for example, Tab 3 can appear while Tab 2 is empty. Clear a tab's content and update the product to hide it. Clearing only its title uses the default title when one is configured.
Existing extra-tab content remains available on its original products. Other products do not inherit that content. Tabs provided by another extension are preserved; their order and presentation depend on the theme and other tab extensions.
Verify and troubleshoot
Open every populated tab and confirm its title, formatting, links, and shortcode output. Also check a product with no extra content: it should have no extra tabs.
- No tabs appear: confirm the tweak is enabled, the tab has content and a title, and the product template includes the WooCommerce tab area. A theme setting or another extension can hide that entire area. In POM Theme, select a product tabs display style.
- A later tab is missing: check Number of tabs and increase it if needed. Lowering this setting hides later tabs and their editors without deleting saved content.
- An embed remains a link: place its URL on a line by itself and confirm that WordPress supports the provider and the resource is accessible.
- A shortcode remains visible: its providing plugin or theme must be active and register that shortcode.
- The editor panel is missing: use the standard WordPress product editor and check Screen Options and any panel visibility controls.
Disable or reverse the change
Disable Extra product tabs and save to remove its product editor panel and frontend tabs. Saved product content is retained. Re-enable the tweak and restore the previous tab count to show that content again.
