Change public author URLs

Open Settings → POM Tweaks → Content → Authors and enable Custom author archive base. Save, enter Author archive base, and save again. Then save Settings → Permalinks once to refresh routing.

For example, writers changes the base before each author's name. Individual user slugs and content ownership remain unchanged. Existing author URLs are not redirected automatically. Disable the module and refresh permalinks to restore the normal base.
