Configure general administration controls
Use these four independent controls to adjust navigation, content transfer access, and notices for one WordPress site. You need permission to manage that site's settings.
Enable a control
- Open Settings → POM Tweaks → White labelling → Admin general settings.
- Select the control you need from the table below. All four are off by default.
- Click Save.
- Reload the affected administration screen to verify the result.
| Control | Effect and limits |
|---|---|
| Move Menus to the main navigation | Moves the classic Menus editor from Appearance to the main administration navigation. The theme must support menus or widgets, and the user still needs permission to edit theme options. It does not move block-theme navigation from the Site Editor. |
| Disable import | Denies the WordPress import capability, removing the native Import tool and blocking its direct administration URL. Applies to all users of this site, including multisite superadministrators. |
| Disable export | Denies the WordPress export capability, removing the native Export tool and blocking its direct administration URL. Applies to all users of this site, including multisite superadministrators. |
| Hide admin notices | Suppresses callbacks in the standard admin_notices area while preserving the WordPress update notice. Notices rendered through other hooks, inline messages, and network notices remain available. |
These controls apply to site administration. They do not alter Network Admin or public pages. Import and export restrictions do not permanently change stored user or role permissions. Plugin transfer tools that use other permissions, including POM Tweaks' own settings transfer tool, are outside their scope.
Verify each behavior
- Menus: reopen the dashboard and open Menus from the main navigation. There should be one entry and no duplicate under Appearance.
- Import or export: confirm the corresponding entry is unavailable under Tools. Opening
/wp-admin/import.phpor/wp-admin/export.phpdirectly should show a permission error when its restriction is enabled. The other tool remains available if its control is off and your account normally has access. - Notices: reload an administration screen that previously displayed plugin notices. Core update information remains visible when WordPress has an update to announce. This control does not dismiss notices permanently.
Disable or troubleshoot a control
Clear its checkbox and click Save, then reload the affected screen. The original navigation, access, or notice behavior returns unless another plugin or role restriction also changes it. Clearing one control does not turn off its neighbors.
If Menus does not appear, check theme support and your account's theme permissions. If a notice remains visible, it may use another notice hook; this setting intentionally targets the standard site notice area. Temporarily disable Hide admin notices when reviewing plugin setup or maintenance messages.
The same tab also contains Admin redirects, a separate module with independent Dashboard and Add New Page destinations.
