Install and activate POM Tweaks
Installing POM Tweaks adds the plugin and its POM Framework settings interface. Activation does not enable the individual modern modules, create a setup wizard, or perform a bulk migration of classic settings.
Complete the requirements and compatibility review first and use the official production ZIP from the POM private release channel.
Protect the existing site
Before installation:
- Create a current database-and-files backup or a recoverable staging snapshot.
- Record custom code and active plugins that already alter the behavior you plan to change.
- Capture the current result for each affected role and URL.
- Identify any existing POM Tweaks installation and export or record its settings before replacing files.
- Confirm that the intended administrator can manage settings and the license.
No database migration is needed merely to display the settings pages, but later tweaks may write files, metadata, options, or commerce records. The rollback plan belongs to the selected feature, not just to plugin installation.
Install on a single site
- Open Plugins → Add Plugin.
- Select Upload Plugin.
- Choose the POM Tweaks release ZIP.
- Select Install Now.
- When WordPress finishes, select Activate Plugin.
The normal installation path is:
wp-content/plugins/pom-tweaks/
Do not install a GitHub-generated source archive in place of the release ZIP. The production build contains the runtime dependencies expected by POM Tweaks.
Install on multisite
Install the ZIP from Network Admin → Plugins → Add Plugin.
Choose the activation mode deliberately:
- Select Network Activate when the plugin and its available site behavior should be present throughout the network.
- Use site activation only when the plugin is intentionally limited to selected sites. Keep it active on the main site if the local private updater is expected to run.
The license is network-scoped even when individual settings are managed per site. Network activation does not make every site use the same site-specific tweak configuration.
Confirm the administration entries
After activation, verify the interfaces without enabling a feature:
- Settings → POM Tweaks opens the modern POM Framework catalog.
- On multisite, Network Admin → Settings → POM Tweaks opens the independent network settings that are currently available there.
If Settings → POM Tweaks is missing, confirm that the production package contains the vendor dependencies and that the current user can manage options. The former Settings → Tweaks page is no longer part of the plugin.
Confirm the inactive starting state
Open Settings → POM Tweaks and review the modern module switches. A module is loaded only after its saved enabled status becomes 1; installation alone does not activate the whole catalog.
Previously saved POM Framework settings remain after deactivation. Review their switches before treating reactivation as a clean installation. Older classic configuration is not imported or activated automatically.
Installation result
A complete base installation has:
- the official POM Tweaks package installed;
- the intended site or network activation mode;
- the site and, where applicable, network settings available to the correct role;
- no unreviewed modern module enabled;
- previously configured modules reviewed;
- a recoverable baseline recorded.
Next, activate the POM Tweaks license, take the interface tour, and then enable one tweak under observation.
