Organize the installed plugins list
Use these two independent controls to show active plugins first or hide selected entries on a site's Plugins → Installed Plugins screen. You need access to Settings → POM Tweaks and permission to view installed plugins.
Configure the list
- Open Settings → POM Tweaks → White labelling → Plugins.
- Enable Active plugins first to group active plugins before inactive plugins, including when the list spans several pages.
- Enable Hide selected plugins and click Save to display its choices.
- Under Hide these plugins from this site's Installed Plugins list, select the plugins to hide. Each label includes its plugin file name to distinguish similar names.
- Click Save and open Plugins → Installed Plugins.
You can enable either control independently. Active plugins keep their name ordering within the active group; inactive plugins follow with their own name ordering. WordPress search and status filters remain available. Hidden plugins are omitted from the displayed groups, counts and search results.
Scope and limits
These settings apply to the current site's administration screen. On multisite, the Network Admin → Plugins inventory stays available and unchanged. Plugins activated for the network are treated as active when shown in the site's list. Must-use plugins and drop-ins are outside these controls.
Hiding an entry does not deactivate, uninstall or prevent updates to a plugin. It does not restrict management permissions or replace access controls. Other tools and plugin dependency messages may still identify a hidden plugin. A plugin that replaces WordPress's native list table manages its own ordering.
The selector continues to list hidden plugins so you can show them again. A saved selection whose plugin is no longer installed appears as Unavailable plugin. Leave it selected to hide the plugin if the same file returns, or clear it to forget that selection. Newly installed plugins are not selected automatically.
Verify or undo
- Check that active entries precede inactive entries, including across page boundaries if pagination is enabled in Screen Options.
- Search for a hidden plugin and confirm its row is absent. Check that an unselected plugin still appears.
- Confirm that a hidden active plugin's normal feature still works.
- To show an entry again, clear its checkbox and save. To suspend all hiding while retaining selections, disable Hide selected plugins and save.
- Disable Active plugins first to restore the normal WordPress ordering.
If a change is not visible, confirm you are viewing the same site's plugin screen and have saved the relevant enable control. Network Admin uses its own inventory. If another plugin supplies a custom plugins screen, use that plugin's display controls.
