Build an event package
Use this pattern for a purchasable package containing service tiers, catering choices, equipment, printed materials, and optional merchandise.
Prerequisites
Represent supported service choices as virtual simple WooCommerce products and physical deliverables as normal shippable products. Configure a POM Product Add-On date field on a supported component only when the event date belongs to that product's validated Add-On model.
Configure the package
- Create a Composite product with a required single-selection Package tier chapter.
- Add Catering, Equipment, Printed materials, and Merchandise chapters.
- Use Specific products for contracted service tiers and Product categories for current merchandise.
- Add scenarios so a premium tier reveals included service chapters and a basic tier leaves them optional or hidden.
- Add compatibility rules when one venue or service excludes an equipment option.
- Choose Stepped to validate the commercial decisions in order.
- Use Base price plus components for a package base, a percentage Management fee when the service fee scales with the selected pre-tax subtotal, and a final fixed adjustment only when it applies once to the complete configuration.
- Choose Partial: choose by chapter. Keep virtual services non-shipping, assemble small printed materials, and ship merchandise separately when fulfillment requires it.
- Publish the product.

Expected result
Customers purchase one linked package whose service and physical lines retain their tax and shipping behavior. The total updates from current server data as the package changes.
Verify and troubleshoot
Test every tier branch, tax class, a percentage management fee, physical and virtual lines, and the actual payment method. Confirm a hidden service cannot be submitted and each physical item appears in the intended shipping package.
Composite Products does not add booking person or block multipliers to its JSON component contract. Use only the Product Add-On field types supported inside a Composite component.
