Design PDF catalog output

Global settings control the document frame; a feed template controls each product block; each catalog controls covers, category pages, columns, and spacing.

Shared document settings

Configure:

  • Table of contents title;
  • Footer logo;
  • header background and text colors;
  • footer background and text colors.

Cover and back-cover fields expect URLs to PDF files. Only the first page of each supplied PDF is imported.

Create a feed template

Each Feed template has an administration name, Template HTML, and Template CSS. The HTML is rendered once per product.

Useful tokens include:

{{title}}
{{permalink}}
{{excerpt}}
{{post_content}}
{{featured_image}}
{{price}}
{{stock}}
{{taxonomy_terms taxonomy="product_cat"}}
{{pagebreak}}

The settings interface lists all supported tokens and parameters for the installed version, including dates, metadata, gallery images, attributes, sale text, icons, and image URLs. Use only those documented in that interface.

Template HTML is trusted administrator-authored content. Escape assumptions should be tested with product titles, descriptions, prices, and metadata containing special characters.

Layout controls

Each manual or automatic definition can choose:

  • one to four Product columns;
  • Product listing page padding;
  • Product column padding;
  • optional TTF font filename from the site’s uploads fonts directory.

Spacing accepts px or mm. PDF rendering has more limited CSS support than a browser, especially inside table layouts. Prefer direct selectors on links and product-entry wrappers.

Design test set

Include products with long titles, missing images, sale prices, variable prices, long descriptions, attributes, accented text, and multiple categories. Review page breaks, orphan headings, cover scaling, table of contents links, typography, contrast, and print margins.
