Handle refunds and cancelled orders
Partial coupons reacts to WooCommerce payment completion. It does not listen for refunds, refund amount changes, failed payments, or order cancellation to replenish a coupon.
Consequence
After an eligible paid order reduces the coupon:
- a full refund leaves the reduced amount unchanged;
- a partial refund leaves it unchanged;
- cancelling the paid order does not restore the earlier amount;
- deleting the order does not remove its history entry or recalculate the coupon.
This is intentional operational information: do not promise customers an automatic voucher restoration.
Manual correction workflow
If the business policy requires value to be returned:
- verify the original coupon amount and discount used from the order and coupon history;
- calculate the approved restored balance;
- edit the coupon amount through WooCommerce;
- add an internal order note explaining the manual correction;
- confirm usage limits and expiry still match the decision;
- test the coupon before communicating the restored value.
Coordinate concurrent refunds and orders so two operators do not calculate from different balances.
Production decision
Do not enable Partial coupons when automatic refund-aware stored value is a requirement. This module is a remaining-amount adjustment for paid fixed-cart coupons, not a complete gift-card or wallet ledger.
