Choose catalog products and categories

Saved catalog membership is category-driven. Only published WooCommerce products are rendered, ordered by product menu order and then title. For a one-off selection in your own order, use an ephemeral catalog.

Manual catalogs

Each item under Manual catalogs → Catalog definitions needs:

  • Catalog name, also used to derive the PDF filename;
  • a saved Feed template;
  • Catalog query set to All categories or Specific categories;
  • at least one Included category when using the specific mode.

Selecting a category includes its descendants. The category hierarchy is preserved in the document. A product assigned directly to a parent and an included child is displayed in the more specific included child rather than duplicated in the parent section.

Optional settings control table of contents, category intro pages, category descriptions, and direct-product counts in the index.

Automatic category catalogs

Generate one catalog per category creates an independent catalog definition for every WooCommerce product category on each regeneration. Choose one feed template and shared cover, back cover, font, category-page, column, and spacing settings.

Automatic category catalogs do not add a table of contents. Each catalog is rooted in its category and includes that category’s descendants.

Because empty categories are included in the available hierarchy, review generated output rather than assuming every category PDF contains products.

Category-page choices

  • Enable category pages adds an introductory section for each included category.
  • Display category description prints the saved description when one exists.
  • Display product count in the index shows the count of products directly displayed in that category, not an undifferentiated descendant total.

Content verification

Create products assigned to parent-only, child-only, and both parent/child categories. Generate one all-category and one selected-category catalog, then confirm product order, hierarchy, absence of duplicates, empty-category handling, and category descriptions.
