Configure country zones

Use this guide to create a validated country map for the current WooCommerce store.

Before you begin

  • Confirm WooCommerce is active.
  • Decide which countries need explicit zones.
  • Decide which enabled zone should receive every unmatched country.
  • Decide whether unmatched countries should see the effective fallback/default price or no price.
  • If the site already uses another country pricing extension, keep it inactive while preparing this configuration and review Site Health before any regional pricing is enabled elsewhere.

Enable the tool

  1. Go to Settings → POM Tweaks.
  2. Open E-Commerce → Products.
  3. Find Country pricing zones.
  4. Select Enable country zones, product price fields, indexing, and diagnostics.
  5. Select Save.

The country-zone editor appears after the tool is enabled. A fresh site starts with no automatically created zones.

Add the zones

  1. Under Price in unmatched countries, select Show the effective fallback/default price or Hide the price.
  2. Select Add new under Configured zones.
  3. Enter a clear Zone name.
  4. Select the zone’s Countries. Leave this empty only when this row is the fallback zone.
  5. Enter a Priority from 0 to 9999. Lower values are available first to compatible features that need an ordered zone list.
  6. Select Enable this zone when the zone should participate in request resolution.
  7. Select Use this enabled zone when no country assignment matches for exactly one row.
  8. Repeat these steps for the remaining zones.
  9. Drag rows into the preferred administration order if needed.
  10. Select Save.

The expected result is a confirmation that the zones were saved and their existing identifiers were preserved.

Saving a changed zone configuration also queues a bounded rebuild of the country-price administration index. Product editing remains available while that background work runs.

Important rules

  • A country cannot appear in two zones, even when one of those zones is disabled.
  • A configuration with zones must contain exactly one fallback.
  • The fallback must be enabled.
  • A non-fallback zone must contain at least one country.
  • Renaming, reordering, enabling, or disabling an existing row preserves its internal identifier.
  • Copying or manipulating an existing identifier is rejected.
  • Zone settings and identifiers are isolated to the current WordPress site.
  • WooCommerce's effective selling-country list independently controls purchasing. A fallback price may be visible in a country where purchasing is blocked.
  • Hide the price affects only countries that reach the fallback because they have no explicit zone assignment. It does not hide prices in explicitly assigned zones.

If any rule fails, the complete submitted zone change is rejected and the previous valid configuration remains active.

Verify the result

  1. Reload Settings → POM Tweaks → E-Commerce → Products.
  2. Confirm the unmatched-country price policy, names, country selections, order, priorities, enabled states, and fallback selection.
  3. Rename one test zone, save, and confirm it remains the same row.
  4. Reorder two test zones, save, and confirm their settings move with them.
  5. Go to Tools → Site Health → Status.
  6. Confirm Country pricing zone configuration reports a valid configuration.

Product prices should remain unchanged throughout this verification.

Continue with Edit country-zone product prices when the zone configuration is valid.

Troubleshooting

A duplicate-country message appears

Remove the country from every zone except its intended owner, then save again. The previous valid configuration remains available until the corrected submission succeeds.

The fallback cannot be saved

Confirm exactly one row is selected as the fallback and that the same row is enabled.

A zone with no countries is rejected

Assign at least one country or make that row the single enabled fallback.

The editor has no country choices

Confirm WooCommerce is installed and active, then reload the settings page.

A different subsite does not show the same zones

This is expected. Country zones are intentionally stored per site in a multisite network.

Product-list regional columns show “Not indexed”

The background rebuild may still be running after a zone change. Check Site Health or follow Reindex country-zone product prices.
