Fix an untranslated menu item

Menu labels and destinations are separate. Diagnose the visible label first, then the link.

Restore the label

  1. Open the WordPress menu and confirm the item still exists.
  2. Save the menu so POM Translate extracts its current label and description.
  3. Find the menu item in the Translation Manager for the target locale.
  4. Save a non-empty translated label.
  5. Clear the affected menu and full-page caches.

If the source label changed, search for the current wording rather than an older extracted value.

Check the destination

  • Native post and term items should follow their localized object routes and stored slugs.
  • Home and archive items use the configured locale-prefix rules.
  • Custom internal links need the custom URL translation workflow when their destination itself changes.
  • External URLs normally remain unchanged.

A correct translated label can still point to a base-language or invalid route. Test both aspects while logged out.

If only one theme menu is affected, check whether it reads raw menu-item fields or caches a locale-neutral rendered menu. A compatible renderer should use standard WordPress menu filters and vary cached output by locale.
