Choose stable registered-string identifiers

The first argument of pom_translate_register_string() identifies a registered source independently of where it is rendered.

Use a namespaced, semantic identifier:

pom_translate_register_string(
    'acme.checkout.delivery_notice',
    'Delivery takes 2–3 days.'
);

Do not use an array index, database ID from another environment, translated label, random value, request URL, or current locale. Keep the identifier stable when wording is corrected so the same registry entry is updated.

Use separate identifiers when identical English text has genuinely different meanings or lifecycle. Conversely, reuse one identifier when the same product-owned message should share a translation.

Identifiers are not displayed to visitors, but treat them as public integration metadata: avoid customer names, secrets, or internal credentials.
