Exclude content from translation
Use Translations → Translation exclusions to exclude a specific post, term, or navigation menu item from selected additional languages.
Add an exclusion
- Choose Post, Term, or Menu item.
- Search for the item and select it.
- Select Load item.
- Choose individual languages or Exclude from all non-base languages.
- Select Save exclusions.
The base locale cannot be excluded. Existing exclusions appear in the table above the editor and can be opened or removed.
Understand the effect
A per-language exclusion prevents that object from being processed and displayed for the selected locale. The generator skips it for that language.
Exclude from all non-base languages is stronger. POM Translate removes the object's stored translatable strings and structural skeletons where applicable. A later generation run continues to skip the globally excluded object.
Removing an exclusion makes the object eligible again, but it does not recreate deleted strings immediately. Save or reparse the source content, or run Generate pending translations, before expecting its translation rows to return.
Use exclusions intentionally
Exclusions define publishing availability, not temporary batch scope. Do not globally exclude content merely to make a generation run smaller, because that can remove stored translation data.
After saving, visit the affected localized route and check menus, archives, direct URLs, and language selectors. Confirm the content is absent only from the intended languages.
