Add site-wide translator notes
The Notes for translators (optional) field adds instructions to every POM Translate machine-translation request. Use it for rules that should apply across all target languages and content types.
Add the notes
- Open Settings → POM Translate → Advanced.
- Open LLM translation settings and then Machine translation settings.
- Enter guidance in Notes for translators (optional).
- Save the settings.
- Translate a small sample in each target language and review the result.
The stored value is sanitized as plain textarea content and limited to 300 words. Text beyond that limit is removed when the setting is normalized.
Good instructions
Useful notes are short, stable, and testable:
- keep product names unchanged;
- use formal address;
- translate a recurring industry term in a particular way;
- preserve units while localizing punctuation;
- avoid gendered wording where the target language permits it.
Do not paste a glossary with hundreds of entries. POM Translate has no enforced glossary or term-locking system, so notes influence the result but cannot guarantee a required term.
Keep business context separate
The POM AI business short description explains what the organization does. Translator notes explain how its text should be translated. Both accompany the request, together with the source and target locale and context inferred from the content.
Avoid repeating the same paragraph in both fields. Clear separation makes later corrections easier:
- change the business description when the organization or audience changes;
- change translator notes when terminology, register, or locale policy changes.
These notes are sent remotely. Never include passwords, license keys, customer data, or confidential instructions.
