Work with registered and other strings

Use Translations → Other translations for site text that is registered independently from a post, term, or menu item.

Defaults

The Defaults subtab contains registered strings and a per-language Date format field. Choose an additional language before editing.

You can search registered strings, filter them by Pending, Machine, Human, or Reviewed, edit translations, and use the same bulk status actions as the content table. Saving non-empty manual text assigns the Human status. Leaving the date format empty uses the displayed default, and the screen provides an example for the effective format.

Registered strings are stored in POM Translate's translation tables. The pending generator's final sweep includes unresolved registered strings even though they are not posts, terms, or menu items.

WooCommerce emails

When WooCommerce is active, Other translations also contains a WooCommerce emails subtab. It has its own email-template, context, preview, and save workflow; it is not part of the generic registered-string table.

See WooCommerce documentation before translating transactional email content.

Do not confuse this with gettext

Theme, plugin, and WordPress interface catalogs belong under Software translations. Those edits are file-based and must be exported; they are not stored with registered defaults.
