Requirements for automatic translation

Automatic translation is available only when the multilingual configuration, service license, and target-language setup are all ready.

Site requirements

• POM Translate is active and its multilingual system is initialized.
• At least one additional language is enabled. The base language is the source, not an automatic-translation target.
• Settings → POM Translate → Advanced → LLM translation settings is enabled.
• The POM AI plugin is active so the supported license, balance, and business-context screens are available.
• A valid POM AI key is stored for this site and its current host is authorized.
• The POM AI account and any domain allowance have enough credits.
• The server can make outbound HTTPS requests to the POM account service.

Background translation additionally depends on working WordPress cron. Per-string buttons and the pending generator run from the administrator's browser and do not require the scheduled queue to be enabled.

Content requirements

POM Translate can only send a source value after it has been extracted and stored. Confirm that:

• the relevant post type, post part, custom field, or taxonomy is enabled;
• the object is not globally excluded;
• the target language is not excluded for that object;
• the source string is non-empty;
• the target field does not already contain a translation;
• the individual source string is no longer than 400 words.

A string longer than 400 words is not sent automatically. Split the source into meaningful sections when possible, or translate that value manually.

Verify availability

1. Open Translations → Translate contents.
2. Select an additional language.
3. Find an empty stored translation.
4. Confirm the Translate with POM AI action is available.
5. Translate one short, non-critical string.
6. Confirm the result is saved with Machine status and the POM AI balance can be refreshed.

If the action is absent, first check that an additional language exists and that LLM translation settings is enabled. If the action appears but the request fails, work through Troubleshoot machine translation.
