Configure the floating language selector

The floating surface is injected through the WordPress footer hook when enabled. It does not need a menu assignment or shortcode placement.

Enable it

  1. Open Settings → POM Translate → Language switcher.
  2. Find Floating language switcher.
  3. Enable Enable floating language switcher.
  4. Choose Floating language switcher format:
    • Dropup menu;
    • All languages at the same level.
  5. Configure Floating language switcher markup.
  6. Save and open a public page.

The dropdown format receives built-in fixed placement at the bottom-right of the viewport. It measures the available space whenever it opens, resizes, or scrolls.

The same-level format is emitted as a footer list with floating-specific classes. Apply site styling appropriate to the intended placement and verify it does not inherit unsuitable list styles.

Shared restrictions

The floating selector:

  • follows the global Hide current language setting;
  • includes the base language;
  • removes locales excluded for the current post or term;
  • returns no markup when no entry remains;
  • uses the saved floating markup for every language.

Unlike the shortcode and navigation item, it has no per-instance base-language switch.

Check theme requirements

The active theme must call wp_footer() before the closing </body> tag. If it does not, the floating selector cannot be injected.

Test it against:

  • cookie-consent banners;
  • chat or accessibility widgets;
  • sticky mobile controls;
  • logged-in administration bars;
  • long locale labels;
  • browser zoom;
  • pages with short and long scroll positions.
