Choose a helper for a public value
There is no universal pom_translate_translate_value() helper. Choose the API that matches the value's storage contract:
- post fields:
pom_translate_get_post_*(); - term fields:
pom_translate_get_term_*(); - registered interface text:
pom_translate_translate_registered_string(); - internal routes:
pom_translate_get_localized_url(); - supported response structures:
pom_translate_translate_json_payload().
Do not pass slugs, URLs, IDs, serialized settings, or arbitrary customer data through the registered-string translator. A coincidental text match is not a stable content identity.
If a value has no existing contract, first decide whether it is a stable registered string, a mapped metadata field, a shortcode attribute, or part of a schema-aware integration. Register it at the appropriate lifecycle, then retrieve it with the corresponding helper.
Every returned translation requires final-context escaping. Source fallback is normal and should remain usable when POM Translate is inactive or a locale has not been completed.
