custom_label: an editor-defined selector label
{%custom_label%} displays the optional label entered for each configured language.
Configure the values
Open Settings → POM Translate → Languages setup → Base setup:
- enter the base-locale wording in Custom label for the main language;
- enter each additional locale's wording in Custom language label inside Additional languages.
Then use this template on the required selector surface:
{%custom_label%}
Custom labels are useful for concise editorial names, regional wording, or a naming convention that differs from the built-in locale definition.
Account for the asymmetric fallback
When the main language has no custom label, POM Translate substitutes its local language name. Additional languages do not receive that fallback through custom_label; a blank value remains empty.
Complete and review every additional-language label before using this tag alone. A safer mixed template is not available through conditional syntax, because merge tags do not support expressions. If maintaining custom labels for every locale is impractical, use local_label as the primary value instead.
Verify changes
Check every language entry after editing either the language settings or selector markup. Confirm the wording is unique, remains understandable outside the current page language, and fits all selector layouts. Changing a custom label affects presentation only; it does not rename the locale or its URL prefix.
