Hide the current language

The global option Hide current language in the language switcher removes the active locale from every selector output by default.

Configure the global policy

  1. Open Settings → POM Translate → Language switcher.
  2. Enable Hide current language.
  3. Set Hidden current language label.
  4. Save the settings.
  5. Test a list and a dropdown in at least two locales.

The fallback hidden label is Change language.

Understand each format

For list, links, and same-level menu formats, the current locale is simply removed.

For shortcode and floating dropdowns, the toggle shows the hidden-current label plus the language icon. Only other locales appear in the menu.

For a navigation dropdown, the synthetic parent uses the hidden-current label while the other locales remain children. It is not marked as the current menu item.

When the current locale is included, dropdowns normally use its computed language label as the toggle. The matching entry inside shortcode and floating dropdown menus is disabled, removed from the tab order, and does not navigate.

Override one shortcode

An explicit shortcode value takes precedence over the global policy:

[pom_translate_language_switcher include_current_language="true"]

Leaving the attribute empty inherits the setting.

Avoid an empty selector

If exclusions or base-language omission leave only the current locale, hiding it can leave no clickable entry. POM Translate then returns no selector markup for that surface.

Test sparse contexts deliberately, especially when some posts or terms are excluded from several languages.
