country_iso: the uppercase country identifier
{%country_iso%} displays the locale definition's country identifier in uppercase.
Understand the derived fallback
If the definition has no country identifier, POM Translate uppercases the final two characters of the locale. That fallback keeps the value non-empty, but it does not prove that those characters represent a valid country for a custom or nonstandard locale.
Review custom definitions before exposing the result as country information.
Add compact regional context
{%local_label%} {%country_iso%}
The language name should remain the primary label. A country identifier alone does not identify a language and may be unfamiliar to visitors.
Separate it from flags and URLs
The country_iso value does not choose the flag asset and does not build the selector destination. Flags come from the locale definition's flag data, while routing is calculated separately.
After saving the template, compare regional variants and custom languages. Confirm that the identifier is accurate, readable in the chosen layout, and not being mistaken for code or slug.
