Set the daily string limit
The Daily string limit caps how many source strings POM Translate can include in successful machine-translation requests during one WordPress calendar day.
The default is 1,000 strings.
Configure the limit
- Open Settings → POM Translate → Advanced.
- Open LLM translation settings and Machine translation settings.
- Enter a non-negative number in Daily string limit.
- Save the settings.
- Check Strings Today under Translations → Generate pending translations.
A value of 0 blocks machine-translation requests because even one new string would exceed the limit.
A string is not an object
One page, product, term, menu item, or email can produce several stored strings. A page title, multiple body fragments, shortcode attributes, and mapped custom fields each count separately.
The counter also differs from:
- Strings in queue, which is the current scheduled backlog;
- Processed, which counts worklist items in the browser generator;
- Translations created, which counts values stored during that browser run;
- POM AI credits, which are charged per bounded service request.
The daily string count increases when the service returns a usable translated group. A value subsequently rejected for changed markers or a changed source can remain pending while still contributing to today's local count.
Choose a useful limit
Use a lower cap while validating a new language or terminology policy. Increase it only after a sample has been reviewed and the POM AI balance can support the likely requests.
The counter resets automatically when the WordPress date changes. Changing the configured limit does not clear existing usage. If an intentional limit increase must take effect from a fresh zero, follow Reset today's local counters.
