Review multilingual SEO and discovery

POM Translate gives each enabled language a localized route for the same WordPress object. Its SEO layer keeps those routes aligned through language attributes, canonical URLs, alternate-language links, and supported Rank Math or Yoast sitemap filters.

Division of responsibility

POM Translate manages:

  • localized post, term, archive, home, search, author, and paginated URLs;
  • the <html lang> and text direction attributes;
  • hreflang alternates and an x-default pointing to the base locale;
  • localized canonical output for Rank Math and Yoast;
  • Rank Math Open Graph locale values;
  • supported sitemap URL adjustments;
  • configured translatable SEO metadata.

Your SEO plugin still decides whether a page is indexable, emits robots directives, creates the sitemap index, and applies its own title templates and schema.

  1. Complete the page or term translation and its localized slug.
  2. Translate the relevant SEO title and description.
  3. Verify the localized page has a self-referencing canonical.
  4. Inspect its alternate-language links.
  5. Decide whether incomplete fallback pages should remain indexable.
  6. Check the sitemap generated by the active SEO plugin.
  7. Run the SEO review checklist.

Important limitation

POM Translate can render a localized route even when part of its text falls back to the base language. It does not automatically add noindex based on translation completeness. Use exclusions, complete the translation, or apply the appropriate robots policy in the SEO plugin before discovery.

The built-in integration is implemented for Rank Math and Yoast. Canonical or sitemap integration with other SEO plugins should not be assumed.

Start with a representative page, a hierarchical term archive, and a paginated archive before reviewing the complete site.
