Translate a product
WooCommerce products use the normal POM Translate content workflow. One product record supplies every locale; translations are stored separately and rendered for the active language.
Translate the main product fields
- Save the product in its base language.
- Go to Translations → Translate contents.
- Choose the target locale.
- Find the product by title or object ID.
- Translate its title, full description, and short description.
- Translate any product custom fields explicitly enabled in POM Translate.
- Save the translations.
- Open the localized product URL and verify the single-product page.
POM Translate also applies product translations to WooCommerce product objects used in catalog output, cart item names, order-item rendering during supported emails, and Store API product payloads.
Keep commerce data shared
Do not create a second product to hold another language. The original product continues to own:
- price and sale schedules;
- SKU and stock;
- shipping dimensions;
- tax configuration;
- images and downloadable files;
- linked upsells, cross-sells, and variations.
Translate image alt text or another product field only through its supported content or metadata surface.
Complete the surrounding catalog
A translated product page can still contain source-language terms. Translate separately:
- categories and tags;
- attribute labels and terms;
- variation output;
- the product slug and related shop URLs;
- fixed WooCommerce interface text through gettext catalogs.
Verify
Compare the base and target pages. Confirm the title, both descriptions, tabs, breadcrumbs, category links, attribute values, add-to-cart flow, and Store API or block output used by the site.
If a translation is missing, POM Translate falls back to the source value. Save the product again when its original copy changes so the stored source strings can be refreshed and reviewed.
