Launch a multilingual brochure site
Use this recipe for a relatively stable company site built from pages, menus, forms, and reusable public labels.
Prepare the source site
- Finish the base-language page hierarchy and navigation.
- Remove draft pages and obsolete menu items.
- Identify public custom fields, shortcode attributes, and builder components.
- Configure their supported translation surfaces before extracting content.
- Create a full database backup.
Build one target language
- Open Settings → POM Translate → Languages setup and add the locale.
- Confirm the intended URL prefix and language label.
- Save one representative page so its title, content, excerpt, metadata, and structure are extracted.
- Translate the page in the Translation Manager.
- Add localized slugs for the page and any parent pages.
- Translate menu labels and reusable registered strings.
- Add a language selector to navigation or another persistent location.
Complete discovery
Translate the SEO title and description supported by the active configuration. Open the target URL while logged out and verify its self-canonical, reciprocal hreflang cluster, localized internal links, and HTML language attribute.
Forms and third-party widgets need separate testing. A translated surrounding page does not automatically translate browser-rendered or remote form responses.
Expected result
Each page remains one WordPress page but resolves under stable base and target routes. Navigation stays in the active locale and missing fields fall back without breaking the layout.
Before launch, crawl representative pages, clear page/CDN caches, and check mobile navigation, 404 handling, search, privacy notices, and contact confirmation messages.
