Restore a missing language selector
The selector returns no output when there are no eligible language entries for its context.
Check configuration
- Confirm POM Translate is active and multilingual features are enabled.
- Confirm at least one additional locale is configured.
- Check whether the current object excludes that locale.
- Review Settings → POM Translate → Language switcher for format and current-language visibility.
- Confirm the selector was added to the displayed WordPress menu, shortcode area, or floating position.
If the current language is hidden and exclusions remove every alternative, an empty selector can be correct.
Check the rendering location
For a menu selector, verify the theme renders the expected menu location through standard WordPress navigation functions. For a shortcode, confirm the shortcode is executed rather than escaped as text. For a floating selector, check that its setting is enabled and the theme outputs the normal footer hook.
Inspect the HTML before blaming CSS. If markup exists but is invisible, check responsive styles, overflow, stacking, and cached assets. If no markup exists, test pom_translate_render_language_switcher() in a controlled template to isolate configuration from theme placement.
Clear page and menu caches after changes. Do not create hard-coded language links; they bypass exclusions, current-route localization, labels, and accessibility output.
