Translate WooCommerce email subjects
Email subjects are configurable pre-merge templates. Translate them in the WooCommerce email workspace so POM Translate can validate their dynamic placeholders before WooCommerce inserts order data.
Translate a subject
- Go to Translations → Other translations → WooCommerce emails.
- Choose the target locale.
- Select the email template.
- Compare the source and target Subject.
- Insert every required placeholder shown below the field.
- Generate a preview for a suitable test order.
- Confirm the rendered subject shown with the preview.
- Save the translations.
Leaving the target empty uses the source subject. Previewing or sending a test does not save it.
Preserve placeholders
Subjects may include tokens such as {order_number}, {site_title}, or other placeholders declared by the email class. The translated field must contain exactly the required tokens.
POM Translate blocks saving, previewing, and test sending when a required token is missing or an unexpected token has been introduced. Use the displayed insertion buttons to avoid spelling or punctuation mistakes.
Translate the surrounding words, not the token itself. Reordering a complete brace token is safe when the target language requires a different sentence structure.
Use POM AI carefully
When enabled, the field action can create a draft for an empty subject. The generated result stays unsaved until the form is saved. Verify brand terminology, capitalization, length, and every placeholder.
Test the final inbox result
Send a test to an explicit address and inspect:
- the fully rendered subject;
- order number and site name insertion;
- encoding and punctuation;
- mobile inbox truncation;
- the selected order locale.
The preview uses current unsaved values, so a successful test is not proof that the translation was published. Save the form and confirm No unsaved changes before finishing.
