Dictation does not start

The dictation control depends on browser recording support, microphone permission, a valid WordPress session, and the local upload limits.

Before recording

  • Use a current browser that supports MediaRecorder.
  • Open WordPress over HTTPS or another browser-approved secure context.
  • Allow microphone access for the exact WordPress origin.
  • Confirm another tab or application has not locked the microphone.
  • Use a WordPress user who can edit posts or upload files.

If permission was blocked, use the browser’s site-permission panel to reset the microphone decision, then reload the WordPress page. POM AI cannot reopen a browser permission prompt after the browser has permanently denied it.

Recording limits

The default maximum duration is 180 seconds and the upload limit is 4 MB. POM AI chooses from browser-supported WebM, Ogg, MP4, MPEG, WAV, AAC, or 3GPP-style audio formats and validates the real uploaded type. A recording with no captured audio is rejected.

If recording starts but transcription fails, test a short spoken sentence. Then check the POM AI license, domain authorization, credits, and the public transcription error. Audio is sent only after you stop recording.

The keyboard shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+. when the control is available and focused in a supported interface.
