Remove an authorized domain
Removing a domain stops it consuming credits and frees its slot for another site. There are two routes: from the site itself, and from your account. They are not interchangeable, so choose the one that matches your situation.
Which route to use

Unlinking from the site is preferable when possible, because it both releases the domain and removes the stored key. Deactivating from the account releases the domain only; the key stays on the site until someone removes it.
Route 1 — Unlink from the site
- Open Settings → POM AI → License on the site.
- Select Unlink.
- Confirm the prompt asking whether to unlink this license from this site.
What happens, in order:
- The account is asked to deactivate this domain.
- Only if that succeeds is the local key removed.
If the account cannot be reached, the panel reports that the license server could not deactivate this domain and states that the local key was kept so you can try again safely. That ordering is deliberate: a network failure never leaves you with a site that has lost its key while the domain remains authorized.
Retry when connectivity is restored, or use the account route instead.
After a successful unlink the site has no license: the tools remain installed but no operation can run, and the License tab shows an empty panel ready for a new key.
Route 2 — Deactivate from the account
- Sign in to account.pom.es.
- Open My Account → POM AI Management.
- Find the domain in the Manage AI Domains list.
- Select the remove control on that row and confirm.
The domain is deactivated immediately and stops being able to spend credits.
The same action is available on the POM AI card in My Account → Licenses & Downloads, where each authorized domain has a remove control and the confirmation notes that the product will stop validating there until it is activated again.
What removal does not do
- It does not delete your generated content. Posts, pages, terms and attachments are ordinary WordPress records and are unaffected.
- It does not refund credits. Consumption is already recorded in the usage log.
- It does not erase history. The authorization record is retained in a deactivated state, so past activity remains auditable.
- It does not invalidate the key. The key continues to work on the domains that are still authorized. To stop a key working everywhere, rotate it — see Rotate a license key safely.
- On the account route, it does not remove the key from the site. If someone still administers that site, they can re-save it and re-authorize the domain if capacity allows.
That last point matters when the reason for removal is that you no longer trust the site's operator. Removal alone is not sufficient; rotation is.
Adding the domain back
Re-authorizing the same host reactivates the retained record rather than creating a second one. The slot is consumed once, the history is preserved, and nothing needs to be cleaned up first.

Common reasons to remove a domain
- A site was retired. Remove it, or the slot stays occupied indefinitely.
- A site moved to a new domain. Unlink on the old host before the move, then save the key on the new one. See Configure a single WordPress site.
- A staging copy is no longer needed. Staging consumes a slot exactly like production.
- A subsite stopped using AI. Its administrator unlinks from that subsite. See Authorize one multisite subsite for AI services.
- Capacity is full and you need room. Remove the least useful domain rather than upgrading, if the plan is otherwise adequate. See Understand domain authorization limits.
- You found a domain you do not recognise. Remove it and rotate the key.
Verify
- The domain no longer appears in Manage AI Domains on the account.
- The used-of-total domain count on the POM AI card has decreased.
- If you unlinked from the site, its License tab shows no stored key.
- An AI operation attempted from that site now fails, rather than quietly succeeding.
The last check is the one that proves the removal took effect where it matters.
