Review a task before consuming credits
The confirmation dialog is the last free moment in a POM AI operation. This page is about using it well, because in practice most unexpected spending is a confirmation someone accepted without reading.
What you are agreeing to
After an estimate, the tool shows a browser confirmation:
This will deduct approximately N credits from your account. Do you wish to continue?
Accepting starts the paid work. Cancelling costs nothing, changes nothing and leaves the form exactly as it was, so you can adjust and try again.
The word approximately refers to rounding and to the ways a request can change after pricing, not to a wide margin. See Understand credit estimates.
The two submit buttons
Every credit-bearing tool has two: one that prices the work and then asks for confirmation, and one that generates immediately without either step.
The second button exists for speed on small, familiar operations. It is the wrong choice when:
- the operation is batched — several images, several pages, several translated elements;
- the requested output is long;
- you have not run this tool before;
- the balance is shared with other sites;
- somebody else will have to explain the spending.
Make the estimate path the team default and treat the direct path as the exception.
What to check before accepting
The scope is what you intended. Count the items. In a batch tool the selection counter tells you how many images are selected; in the translation tool the checkboxes tell you how many elements will be processed. A selection made before a search or a page change may include more than you remember ticking.
The length is what you intended. A target word count left at its default is a common reason an estimate or completed multi-stage total is higher than expected.
The profile is what you intended. For image tools, confirm whether you are on the fast or the higher-quality profile, and at which resolution. This is the single largest cost difference in the image tools.
The prompt contains nothing confidential. Once accepted, the request leaves your site. See Understand data sent for AI processing.
You are on the right site. On multisite especially, confirm which subsite's administration you are in, because the credits come from whichever account owns that subsite's key.
Multi-stage tools need extra attention
The site-wide copy generator confirms once for its structure and again for the pages built from it. The long-form post builder works differently: Estimate first step prices only research or planning, because section and image counts do not exist until the plan is generated.
After you accept that initial estimate, the long-form workflow advances through separately charged saved operations: plan, sections, optional images and optional SEO metadata. The progress panel shows those operations as they become known, but it does not ask for a new browser confirmation before every one.
Treat the initial long-form confirmation as approval for the complete configured run. Check the target words, generation profile, maximum images, business context and publication choice first. If you do not want this charging pattern, cancel before the draft is created.
While it runs
Wait for the operation to finish. Tools show a progress indicator, an elapsed-seconds counter, or a section-by-section status line.
Do not resubmit because it feels slow. A second submission is a second paid request, and it does not cancel the first.
After it finishes
- Confirm the output arrived where you expected — the editor, the media library, the translated post.
- Compare the balance movement against the estimate.
- For an interrupted run, check what completed before retrying, because completed stages were charged.
Building a habit that scales
If several people generate content on the same site, agree on three rules and write them down:
- Always estimate first.
- Nobody runs a batch larger than an agreed size without a second pair of eyes.
- Anything unusual gets noted with its estimate, so the next person has a reference.
