Which actions do not consume credits

Knowing what is free removes most of the hesitation around using POM AI. You can explore, configure and estimate as much as you like; only generation costs.

Free: everything before the confirmation

• Opening any POM AI screen.
• Typing, editing or deleting a prompt.
• Applying a prompt template to a field.
• Recording a dictated prompt, up until you stop. The transcription that follows is charged; see below.
• Choosing a style, model profile, aspect ratio, word count or copywriting tone.
• Searching and selecting images in a batch tool.
• Selecting elements to translate, including running Analyze elements to see what exists.
• Requesting an estimate.
• Cancelling the confirmation dialog.

The estimate request is genuinely free. It asks the account what an operation would cost and returns a number; it does not produce any output and it is not written to the usage log. Ask for an estimate as often as you want, including to compare two configurations before choosing one.

Free: license and account activity

• Saving, revalidating or unlinking a license.
• Authorizing or removing a domain.
• Loading the credit balance, on any screen.
• Using Refresh on the dashboard panel.
• Reading the usage log or the batch breakdown.
• Rotating a license key.
• Downloading the plugin ZIP or installing an update.

Free: working with results you already have

• Reading, editing, rewriting or deleting a generated draft.
• Publishing a generated post or page.
• Cropping, resizing or replacing a generated image by hand.
• Correcting generated alternative text.
• Reviewing a translation.

Once the service has returned a result, it is ordinary WordPress content. Nothing you do to it afterwards touches the account.

Free: local plugin configuration

• Enabling or disabling tools under AI Tools.
• Editing the short description or structured business-profile fields.
• Creating, editing and deleting prompt templates.
• Changing MCP server settings.

MCP: usually free, with an important caveat

POM AI MCP exposes local WordPress, POM Theme, WooCommerce and POM Cache operations to a connected client. Those operations run on your own site and do not consume POM AI credits. Reading a post, updating a product, purging a cache or listing terms through MCP is not a generation request.

The caveat is about consequences, not credits. An MCP write tool can change your live site, your catalogue or your prices. "Free of credits" is not "free of effect". Read MCP boundaries before granting write scopes.

Note also that the AI client you connect — the assistant on the other end of the MCP connection — may have its own pricing with its own vendor. That is outside POM AI entirely.

Not charged: rejected requests

If the service refuses an operation, nothing is consumed. The common refusals are an invalid license, an unauthorized domain, an exhausted balance and a reached domain spending limit. All of them stop the work before it starts.

A refusal is therefore safe to encounter. The thing to avoid is repeatedly resubmitting a request that did start, because a request that completed was charged even if you did not see the result.

The one grey area

A multi-stage run that fails halfway is charged for the stages that completed. That is not an exception to the rule — each completed stage was a real generation request — but it is the one case where "the operation failed" and "nothing was charged" are not the same statement.
