Authorize one multisite subsite for AI services
This is the task a subsite administrator performs to make POM AI usable on their own site. It does not require network access and it does not affect any other subsite.

Who performs this
An administrator of the subsite. Not a network administrator acting on the subsite's behalf — the tab is in the subsite's own administration, and the subsite's own administrators are the intended audience because a subsite may belong to a third party.
What you need first
- POM AI must be network-active, or at least active on this subsite. If the tab does not exist, ask the network administrator.
- A POM AI license key. Whose key depends on the arrangement:
- if you own the subsite and the subscription, use your own key from My Account → Licenses & Downloads on account.pom.es;
- if the network owner is providing AI as part of the hosting arrangement, they supply their key and their account pays for what you generate.
There is no third option. A subsite with no key of its own cannot use POM AI, regardless of how the network is licensed.
Save the key
- In the subsite's administration, open Settings → POM AI → License.
- Confirm the panel heading reads POM AI license for this site. If it reads POM AI license, you are on the network's main site, not a subsite.
- Paste the key and select Save and validate.
The key is checked against the account before it is stored, and the same request authorizes this subsite's host.
What the panel tells you
Below the description, a highlighted note states that automatic plugin updates require POM AI to be active and licensed on the network's main site, and that the key saved here authorizes this domain to consume credits from its owner's account.
Both halves of that sentence are load-bearing:
- You are not configuring updates here. Nothing you save on a subsite will ever produce a plugin update. That is the network administrator's responsibility.
- You are configuring spending. Once this succeeds, work done on this subsite draws from the balance of whoever owns the key.
After a successful save the panel shows the masked key, the status, the plan, the expiry and the authorized domain — this subsite's host, not the network's main host.

The scope is pinned. A save, a revalidation or an unlink performed here can only ever create, refresh or remove this subsite's own entry.
If you are using the network owner's key
Be explicit about the arrangement before you start generating:
- ask what the spending expectation is, because the balance is shared with every other authorized domain;
- ask the owner to set a per-domain spending limit for your host in My Account → POM AI Management if a cap is wanted;
- expect the owner to be able to see your usage in their log, which records the domain, the tool and the credits used per operation.
None of that is hidden, and all of it is easier to agree in advance than to discuss afterwards.
License warnings on a subsite
If this subsite has no key, or its key needs attention, its administrators see a warning in the subsite's own administration pointing at the License tab. It states that without a valid license the site cannot use the product's services or credits, and that plugin updates are managed from the network's main site.
That warning is specific to this subsite. Network-scoped licensing problems are not shown here, because a subsite administrator cannot fix them.
Transient network failures never produce this warning. It appears only for a missing key, an unreadable key, or a definite rejection from the account.
Verify
- The License tab shows a masked key, a valid status and this subsite's host on the Domain line.
- The credit balance loads.
- One small AI operation succeeds on this subsite. Use Complete your first AI-assisted task.
- The balance changes afterwards.
Removing the authorization later
Use Unlink on this tab when the subsite stops using AI or changes hands. It deactivates this subsite's domain on the account and clears the local key, freeing the slot for another site. See Remove an authorized domain.
