What POM AI is
POM AI is a WordPress plugin that adds assisted writing, translation, image and metadata tools to the administration area, plus an optional MCP server that lets approved AI clients perform controlled operations on the site.
It is not a general-purpose chat window. Every capability is a specific tool bound to a specific WordPress screen, with a defined input and a defined output.
Three layers, three kinds of failure
Knowing where an action actually runs makes every later troubleshooting step shorter.

A license or credit problem, a WordPress capability problem and an MCP scope problem are three different faults with three different fixes. The layer that failed is normally identifiable from the error message itself.
The tools it installs
Each tool is enabled individually under Settings → POM AI → AI Tools. Nothing is enabled by default except the business-setup section.
- AI long-form post builder — a persistent staged workflow with optional web research, generated article images, automatic SEO metadata and scheduled publication.
- AI in visual editor — a button inside the visual editor for writing or improving a single text block.
- AI site-wide copywriting — generates the main pages of a site as one coherent set.
- AI translations — translates posts, pages, products, taxonomy terms and menus into another configured language.
- AI image generator — creates an image from a prompt and adds it to the media library.
- AI image enhancer — produces a cleaner, more professional version of an existing attachment.
- AI image bg remover — removes the background of an existing attachment.
- AI metadata for images — fills in alternative text, title and caption for attachments in bulk.
- POM AI MCP — the optional MCP server for compatible AI clients.
Enabling a tool adds its own screen to the WordPress menu. Tour the POM AI interface lists the exact locations.
The AI landing page builder is currently unavailable and does not appear in the tool settings.
What the account layer provides
POM AI does not ask you for an AI provider key. A single POM AI license key does three things at once:
- identifies the account that owns the AI credits;
- authorizes the current domain to spend those credits;
- authorizes private plugin updates.
Credits belong to the account, not to the site. Several authorized domains draw from the same balance. See License and domain authorization and POM AI credits.
The business description is not optional
Under Settings → POM AI → AI Setup there is a short business description and a structured profile covering the brand, offering, audience, positioning, voice, vocabulary, restrictions, proof, visual identity and translation guidance. POM AI selects the relevant sections for each tool. A site that leaves them empty gets generic output.
The compiled business profile is also shown on the WordPress dashboard panel, so it stays visible to whoever is generating content and can be corrected as the business changes.
What POM AI deliberately does not do
- It does not publish ordinary generated edits by itself. The long-form post builder is the explicit exception: a user with publishing permission may choose a future publication time before generation starts, and the completed article is scheduled only after all requested stages finish.
- It does not identify which AI provider or model served a request. Capabilities, inputs, outputs and credit costs are documented; routing is not.
- It does not replace review. Facts, prices, legal claims, accessibility and image rights remain the site owner's responsibility. See Review AI output responsibly.
- It does not store generated content anywhere except where WordPress already stores content: posts, terms and the media library.
- It does not give an MCP client freedom beyond its granted scopes, the WordPress user's capabilities and the write gates an administrator enabled.
