Which actions consume credits
A credit charge happens when POM AI asks the account service to produce something. This page lists those moments, tool by tool, including the ones that charge more than once.
The rule
Credits are consumed when a tool sends the generation request — never when it sends the estimate request. Each generation request that succeeds is charged and recorded in the usage log with the domain, the tool and the amount.

For the WooCommerce description tools, Estimate next item covers only the next item's pending research and writing, not the entire selection. Start / resume confirms generation for all remaining selected items. Preparing a batch, restoring saved progress and applying a previously saved result do not request another AI generation. The AI landing page builder is currently unavailable, so it cannot submit generation requests or consume credits.
The multi-stage tools are the ones that surprise people. A Standard long-form article with nine sections and no images or SEO plugin is ten charges: one plan and nine sections. Pro + internet adds research; automatic images add one charge per created image; and an active supported SEO plugin adds an SEO request.
Estimate first step shows only research or planning. The complete count cannot be known until the plan exists, so approving the initial estimate starts the configured sequence rather than presenting another combined section estimate.
Translation
Each element you selected is translated in its own request, and each is charged. An element is a single post, page, product, taxonomy term or menu.
The tool estimates the whole selection before starting, then processes elements one by one with a progress bar. Because each element is a separate charge, translating 200 posts is 200 charges — see Bulk translation and credits.
Translating a post also translates the taxonomy terms attached to it, if they have no translation yet. Those are additional charges that the post-level count does not make obvious.
The per-post Translate to… button on the edit screen charges the same way, for that one post.

The three tools that work on existing attachments are batch tools: selecting twelve images means twelve charges. The metadata tool accepts up to 48 images in one batch.
Generation and improvement prices depend on the selected model, resolution, OpenAI quality, complete prompt and input images. For OpenAI, the aspect ratio determines the exact dimensions together with the resolution tier. Nano Banana Pro has the same base output price at 1K and 2K. The selector only offers sizes within 2560 pixels per edge. Use the estimate to compare the current choices.
Dictation
Dictating a prompt costs 6 credits per started minute. Any recording up to a minute costs six; the three-minute maximum costs eighteen.
Dictation is the one exception to the estimate-and-confirm pattern: it transcribes as soon as you stop recording, without showing a figure or asking. The exposure per recording is small and bounded, but it is charged without approval.
Because the rounding is per started minute, several short recordings cost far more than one longer one — five ten-second notes cost thirty credits, and the same content in one recording costs six. See Transcribe an audio recording.
What increases a charge
- A longer prompt, because the prompt is part of the input.
- Longer relevant business-profile sections, which are attached to matching generation requests.
- A higher target word count.
- More sections, pages, elements or images in one run.
- The higher-quality image profile and the higher resolution.
What does not change the charge
- Whether you keep the result.
- Whether you edit it afterwards.
- How long the operation took.
- How many times you looked at the estimate first.
Failed operations
A charge follows a completed operation. If the service rejects the request before doing the work — an invalid license, an unauthorized domain, an insufficient balance, a limit reached — nothing is consumed.
The case to be careful about is a partially completed multi-stage run: if a long-form article fails at section six, the five sections already generated were real work and were charged. Check the usage log rather than assuming an all-or-nothing outcome.
