Choose whether to update image references or create a copy
The enhancer and background remover offer Update existing image references?. Both options create a new Media Library attachment and keep the original image.
Choose the scope

Reference updates require permission to manage site media references and edit both images. Administrators have this access; Pomatio Platform also provides it to Editors and Shop managers. Other users can create copies of images they are allowed to edit. The screen selects the copy option when reference updates are unavailable.
Update an image already in use
- Open Media → AI improve image or Media → AI remove image background.
- Select the source image and configure the image operation.
- Choose Yes, update references and keep the original.
- Start generation. After import, the screen processes the saved reference update in small batches.
- Wait for the success message, then review the pages and settings that use the image.
- Keep the original until you have checked unsupported or external references too.
The update covers supported stored URLs and POM Framework settings. It does not automatically change attachment IDs, third-party custom storage or other sites. See reference update coverage.
Resume or stop
If you leave the page, WordPress scheduled tasks can continue the update when the site's cron runner executes. Return to either image tool and select Resume image reference updates to continue the saved work. Resuming a saved reference update does not generate another image or consume additional AI credits.
Stop pending reference updates cancels your pending reference work after confirmation. References already updated remain changed, and both attachments are kept. It is not an undo operation.
Review before applying
Choose a new entry when you want to compare the result before changing pages. For an established treatment across several images, use a small batch and inspect the result before continuing. Retaining the original file does not reverse reference changes; use the normal editors or a site backup when a full rollback is needed.
