The PDF does not match the menu
A generated PDF is a snapshot of a saved design and the WordPress content available at generation time. It does not update itself after a price, item, category, image, allergen, or site-setting change.
Regenerate first
Open PDF designs, find the saved design, and select Regenerate. When it finishes, select Download and compare the new file. Replace every older downloaded, linked, emailed, or printed copy separately.
Check the feed source
Edit the design, select the feed layer, and verify:
- Content source points to the intended menu post type;
- Group by taxonomy uses the intended category taxonomy;
- statuses and taxonomy filters include the intended posts;
- ordering and direction match the admin menu;
- the dynamic loop-item layers are bound to the intended fields.
Use Refresh preview after making content changes while the editor is open.
Check missing items or categories
An item may be absent because it is not in an allowed status, fails a taxonomy filter, belongs to another post type, or cannot be read by the user generating the file. A category with no matching items does not produce an empty term block.
The Optional item limit below CSS selectors affects only the live editor. Clear it to preview all matching posts. PDF generation always resolves the complete feed query.
Check the reusable components
Expand the feed in Layers and inspect Feed container, Term container, and Loop item. These components are reused throughout the catalogue:
- a missing title, description, price, or image usually means its dynamic layer is absent or bound to another field;
- a missing image can also mean that the primary field and every configured fallback are empty;
- allergen names and Allergen icons are separate elements;
- fixed text must be added explicitly in the component where it should repeat;
- hierarchy-specific styles apply only to the levels selected in the inspector.
Check layout and page breaks
If content exists but is clipped or starts on an unexpected page:
- inspect the feed frame's position and size;
- inspect the term and loop-item component canvas sizes;
- check every layer's margin, padding, position, and height;
- review Each … term starts on a new page for every hierarchy depth;
- check page, feed, and term repeat settings;
- temporarily disable custom CSS to identify whether a rule changes the layout.
Check the generated file
The PDF, not the editor canvas, is the authoritative print result. Inspect the first feed page, a continuation page, a nested-term boundary, and the final page. If generation itself fails, follow PDF troubleshooting.
