Search a wine with AI
The wine search looks a wine up by name and fills in what it can: description, region, winery, grape, type, ageing, vintage, tasting notes, characteristics, verified Parker and Peñín scores, and market price references. It is the fastest way to turn a name into a complete record.
Before you start
- The tool must be enabled: Settings → Restaurant settings → Enabled tools → AI wine database.
- POM AI must be active and the site connected to it. Without that connection the screen says so rather than saving anything.
Two places to use it
From the wine list menu — Add new from search creates or updates a wine from scratch.
From an existing wine — the wine record's own search panel looks the wine up and fills in the fields that are still empty.
The difference matters: the edit-screen lookup is designed to enrich a record without overwriting values you have already curated. It fills empty fields and leaves your work alone.
Create a wine from a search
- Open Wine list → Add new from search.
- Type the wine name into the search box and select Search Wine.
- Read the results.
- Select the result that matches the bottle in your cellar.
- Select Create / Update Post.
- Open the created wine and review it before publishing.
Identify the right result
This is the step that decides the quality of your list. Check the result against the physical bottle:
- the producer, not just the brand name;
- the exact cuvée — houses make several wines with similar names;
- the vintage;
- the region.
- any Parker or Peñín score belongs to that exact wine and vintage.
A confident, well-written record for the wrong wine is worse than an empty one, because nothing about it looks wrong.
When nothing is found
The search offers a manual request option — Get this wine with our AI — which sends the reference to be processed. Use it for small producers and local wines that are not in any database.
Meanwhile, create the record by hand. A wine with a name, a category, a vintage and a price is sellable; the technical sheet can arrive later.
What it fills, and what it does not
Filled when found: description, region, winery, grape, wine type, ageing classification, vintage, tasting notes, characteristics, pairing, alcohol, verified Parker and Peñín scores, and the market price references.
Ratings are never estimated. If the online research cannot verify an exact Parker or Peñín score for the identified bottle and vintage, that field remains empty.
Never filled: your sale prices. Glass, bottle, Magnum and Benjamin prices are commercial decisions and remain yours.
The market references — supermarket, minimum, average and maximum restaurant price — are guidance to help you set those prices. They are not shown to guests.
Always review
Treat the result as a draft written by a knowledgeable stranger who has not seen your bottle. Review it before publishing:
- The title is the wine you actually carry.
- The vintage matches the bottle.
- The region and producer are right.
- The description says something true and is in the voice of your list.
- The tasting notes are plausible for that wine.
- Each rating matches the named guide and vintage.
- Your prices are set.

Cost and consumption
The AI tools consume the credit on your POM AI account. The tools tell you what an operation will cost before running it where an estimate applies, so a large job is a decision rather than a surprise.
