Download PNG
Every generated code offers two downloads. PNG is the one for screens.
What PNG is for
- Slides and presentations.
- Social posts and stories.
- Email signatures and newsletters.
- A quick preview to check a code before committing to print.
- Sending a code to someone by message.
What PNG is not for
Printing. A PNG is a fixed grid of pixels, so enlarging it to poster size produces soft, blurry edges — and a QR scanner reads edges.
For anything a printer will produce, use the SVG. See Download SVG.
Download one
- Generate the codes.
- Find the result you want, in the correct language group.
- Select PNG.
The file downloads with a name derived from the destination and, on a multilingual site, the language.
Rename it immediately
The generated name is a starting point, not a filing system. Rename to something that will still make sense in a year:
home-es-2026-03.png
wine-list-en-2026-03.png
reservations-2026-03.png
Destination, language, date. Ten seconds now saves a reprint later.
Test it before using it
A code in a slide deck is as public as a code on a table:
- Open the downloaded file.
- Scan it with a phone that is signed out of the site.
- Confirm the address that opens is the one you intended.
Placing a PNG well
- Keep clear space around the code. Content pressed against its edges breaks the scan.
- Do not stretch it out of square.
- Keep strong contrast against the background.
- Do not place it over a busy image.
- On a slide, make it big enough to scan from the back of the room — that is usually much larger than it looks in the editor.
PNG on screen, SVG on paper
The rule is worth stating plainly because it is the most common QR mistake in restaurants:
| Use | Format |
|---|---|
| Slide, social post, email, message | PNG |
| Table tent, poster, coaster, menu, sticker, window | SVG |
If you are not sure whether something will be printed, download both.
Storing the files
Keep the generated files where the team can find them, named by destination and date. When a reprint is needed, the difference between a five-minute job and a twenty-minute one is whether the original file can be found.
