Favorites

Favorites let a guest collect dishes as they browse and review the collection before ordering. It is a small feature that changes how a table uses a long menu.

How it works for a guest

  • Each item carries a save control.
  • Saving adds it to that guest's favorites.
  • The favorites view — opened from the category navigation's Favorites toggler — lists everything saved, grouped by menu type and section.
  • Items can be removed from the list.

The collection is stored in the guest's own browser, on their own device. There is no account, no sign-in and no personal data collected.

What that means in practice

  • Two guests at the same table have two separate lists.
  • A guest's list survives moving between menus, and between visits on the same device.
  • Clearing the browser's site data clears the list.
  • The restaurant cannot see, export or use what guests have saved.

The same device-local approach is used for the allergen filter — see Remembered filter preferences.

Enabling it

Two things are needed:

  1. The Favorites toggler must be enabled for that archive, under Settings → Restaurant settings → Content settings → Content settings. Without it, guests have no way to open the list.
  2. The layout must render the save control on items, which the supplied layouts do.

When it earns its place

  • Long menus, where a table shortlists before deciding.
  • Menus browsed before arriving — a guest who scans the wine list at home.
  • Tasting-style browsing, where guests collect candidates across several sections.

On a menu of twelve items it adds a control nobody needs. Enable it where the menu is long enough to shortlist from.

What it is not

  • Not an order. Nothing is sent to the kitchen, and nothing is reserved.
  • Not a wishlist you can act on. The restaurant has no access to it.
  • Not analytics. Fenómenus does not report what guests save.

If staff are told about it, tell them this too: a guest saying "I saved it" means it is on their phone, not in your system.

Explaining it to staff

Three lines are enough:

  1. Guests can bookmark dishes on their own phone as they browse.
  2. The list is on their device only; we cannot see it.
  3. It is a shortlist, not an order.
