Supported menu types
Not every menu type has bulk tools, and the ones that do not are missing them for a structural reason rather than an oversight.
What each menu type supports
| Menu type | Excel export | Paste-in bulk table | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| À la carte menu | Yes | Yes | Three price columns |
| Terrace menu | Yes | Yes | Same three price columns as À la carte, with independent items and categories |
| Breakfast | Yes | Yes | Three price columns |
| Desserts | Yes | Yes | Three price columns |
| Bar menu | Yes | Yes | Three price columns |
| Cocktails | Yes | Yes | One price column |
| Beverages | Yes | Yes | Three price columns |
| Wine list | Yes | Its own wine tools | Four price columns |
| Tasting menu | No | No | Priced as a whole |
| Set menu | No | No | Priced as a whole |
Why tasting and set menus have neither
One record is an entire menu, not a line on one. There is no per-item price to put in a column and no list of rows to paste — a tasting menu is a title, a description, six titled blocks, a footer note and two prices.
They are maintained individually, which is appropriate: a restaurant has two or three of them, not two hundred.
Why the wine list is different
The wine list has the export but not the generic paste table. Instead it has its own bulk screen — Bulk add wines from Excel or photo — which offers the same pasted-table workflow plus the option of reading a photographed wine list.
The workflow is the same: paste or generate rows, review them in the table, choose a category, save.
The bulk screen appears under its menu type
Each supported type gets its own Bulk create/update entry in its sidebar section, and each one shows the columns for that type. There is no single import screen for the whole site, and no way to import into two menu types at once.
That is deliberate: an import always targets one menu type and one category, so it cannot accidentally scatter items across the site.
Menu types that are not enabled
A menu type that has not been enabled has no bulk screen, because it has no content type behind it. Enable it first under Content settings → Content types.
Which tool for which job
| Job | Tool |
|---|---|
| Build a new item menu from a supplier list | Paste-in bulk table |
| Reprice a whole menu | Export, edit, paste back |
| Build a wine list from a printed card | Wine tools, photo import |
| Add a tasting menu | The item screen |
| Add a set menu and its dishes | The item screen and the set-menu dish pool |
| Audit prices across a card | Export |
What no bulk tool covers
Descriptions, photos, allergens, featured marks, statuses and translations are never part of bulk import, on any menu type. Every bulk workflow ends the same way: complete the items on their own screens before publishing the menu.
