Translate with POM Translate

POM Translate is the POM product that adds languages to a site. When it is installed, Fenómenus integrates with it in the setup assistant, QR generation, and public menu experience.

Enabling languages

Languages are enabled from Step 1 — Your restaurant of the setup assistant. The screen shows the current site language, and lists the additional languages as checkboxes:

Castellano · Catalán · Euskara · Galego · English · Deutsch · Français · Русский

Ticking one enables it; unticking one disables it. The change applies immediately when the step is saved.

If no additional languages are available, the screen says so rather than showing an empty list.

What Fenómenus does with them

QR codes. The generator produces one code per language for every destination you select, grouped and labelled by language. See Translated QR codes.

Public menus. Menus are published per language, and the archives can carry a language switcher through the Language toggler setting.

The setup assistant prepares the content types

Completing the assistant makes the Fenómenus content types available for translation, so the menus can be translated rather than duplicated.

That happens once, as part of setup. If languages are added long after setup, the structure is already in place.

Where translations are written

Item text is translated on the item itself, through the translation panel on its edit screen. Category names are translated as category records.

The admin lists — All items and All categories — stay in the main working language, so the menu is maintained once and translations are reached from inside each item.

See Translate items and categories.

What stays shared

Prices, allergens, category assignments, images, the menu order and the publication status are shared across an item's translations. Only text is per language.

That is what makes a multilingual menu maintainable: a price change is one edit, not five.

Order of work

  1. Finish the source menu.
  2. Enable the languages in the setup assistant.
  3. Translate the categories.
  4. Translate the items.
  5. Review each language signed out, on a phone.
  6. Generate and verify the language-specific QR codes.

If the language options do not appear

  • The translation layer is not installed or not active on this site.
  • The setup assistant has not been run, or was not completed.
  • The language you want is not among those offered.

Without a translation layer, Fenómenus publishes in the site language only, and the translation controls, language switcher, and per-language QR groups are absent.

Adding a language after launch

Restart the setup assistant only if you intend its other steps to re-run — re-saving the design step regenerates layouts and re-applies the home template.

The lower-risk path is to enable the language in the translation layer's own settings, then translate the content as usual.
