Change statuses across a menu

Fenómenus has no "select all and change status" control. Statuses are changed one row at a time, from All items. That is a deliberate limit — publishing and unpublishing decide what guests can order — but it does not have to be slow if you use the filters.

The fast method

  1. Open All items under the menu type.
  2. Narrow the list to exactly the items you intend to change:
    • the category filter to isolate one section;
    • the status filter to see only what is currently Published or Draft;
    • the search box to match a word in the titles.
  3. Work down the filtered rows, switching each status.
  4. Clear the filters and confirm the result.

Filtering first turns "change forty items" into a short, verifiable list instead of a scroll through the whole menu.

Seasonal changeover

The most common bulk status task is a season ending.

  1. Filter to the category holding the seasonal items.
  2. Set each one to Draft.
  3. Filter to the incoming category.
  4. Set each one to Published.
  5. Reorder the sections on All categories if the menu's shape changed, and save.
  6. Check the public menu signed out.
  7. Regenerate the PDF.

Because Draft keeps everything, next year's changeover is the same operation in reverse.

Launching a prepared menu

When a new menu has been built as drafts:

  1. Filter All items by status Draft.
  2. Review every row before publishing anything — this is the last check before guests see it.
  3. Publish them one by one.
  4. Confirm the count of published items matches what you expect.
  5. Do a full signed-out read of the menu on a phone.

Whole-menu changes

To take an entire menu type out of service, publish and draft are still the mechanism, but there are two lighter alternatives:

  • Remove the type from the contact dock links of the other archives, so guests are no longer sent to it. The content stays untouched.
  • Move the QR codes, if the menu is only reached from a specific table or counter.

Drafting several hundred items to hide a menu for one evening is not the right tool. See Enable and disable menu types.

Multilingual sites

Each status change carries the item's translations with it, so a bulk changeover automatically keeps every language consistent. You never have to repeat the pass per language.

What bulk import does to statuses

The paste-in bulk table creates new items as published immediately. It does not change the status of items it matches and updates.

So an import is not a safe way to stage a menu. If you want to prepare content quietly, import it and then draft it — or build it item by item as drafts.

After any bulk status pass

  • Confirm Uncategorized Items is still empty.
  • Check the public menu signed out, in each published language.
  • Purge the site's page cache or CDN if an old version persists.
  • Regenerate any PDF that is still in circulation.
