Create your first PDF design

Use this guide to create a saved PDF catalogue that can be regenerated whenever menu content changes.

Prerequisites

  • Your account is an Administrator, Editor, or Shop manager. Editors and Shop managers can create, edit, duplicate, permanently delete, preview, regenerate, download, publish, and save presets for PDF designs without receiving administration rights over unrelated settings.
  • At least one supported menu type contains published items.
  • The server can run Chrome or Chromium for PDF export.

Create the design

  1. Open PDF designs in the WordPress sidebar.
  2. Enter a name under Create a design.
  3. Select a clean document or a preset.
  4. Select Create design.
  5. In the editor, open Pages and add a Content section if the preset does not already contain one.
  6. Open Data, choose the menu content type, and select Add source.
  7. Open Layers, select Add element, and add a Feed to the content section.
  8. Resize and position the feed frame on the page.
  9. Select Save.

Each starting-point card includes a visual preview. Base presets currently include Minimal, Classic, Photographic, Wine list, and Elegant.

The editor loads real published content. An empty optional preview limit means every matching post is shown; set a temporary limit below the selected feed's CSS selectors only if a very large feed makes editing slow.

Generate the file

  1. Select Generate PDF in the editor, or return to PDF designs and select Regenerate beside the saved design.
  2. Wait for the success message.
  3. Select Open PDF or Download.

Generation refreshes feeds, dynamic site values, the generation date, and page numbers. The resulting PDF is stored outside the Media Library under the active site's pom-restaurant-menus/pdfs uploads subdirectory. Each design owns one stable catalog-{design-id}.pdf file, and regeneration replaces that file. Temporary render files are removed after the attempt completes.

A site can contain at most 15 designs. Delete permanently removes both the design and its stable generated file immediately; there is no PDF-design Trash or restore step.

Only one generation can run at a time, and a new generation must wait two minutes after the previous one starts. The editor displays the remaining cooldown next to the disabled generation action.

Verify the result

Check the first page, one overflow page, the last page, category boundaries, prices, images, allergen icons, and page numbers. Regenerate after changing menu content; an existing downloaded file is a snapshot and does not update itself.
