Prices in PDF designs

Prices are dynamic layers in the reusable loop-item component. This lets each design decide which stored price fields to show and where each one belongs.

Add a price

  1. Open PDF designs and edit a design containing a feed.
  2. Expand the feed in Layers and select Loop item.
  3. Select Add element, then Dynamic.
  4. Choose the required price field, such as full portion, half portion, unit, glass, bottle, menu, or pairing price. The data source is inherited from the top-level feed.
  5. Drag the price to its intended position and set right alignment when it should form a price column.
  6. Repeat for every price format that the design needs.

Only populated fields render a value. A prefix or suffix on the selected dynamic layer is applied only when that layer resolves a value.

Fill a title with dots

Select the title text or dynamic title layer and enable Fill remaining width with dots. Give that title layer all the horizontal space up to the separately positioned, right-aligned price. The dots automatically consume the title layer's remaining real width, including in calculated feed columns.

Because the loop-item component is shared, one alignment change applies to every post and every overflow page.

Currency and supporting text

Use the dynamic layer's Prefix or Suffix for short text that belongs to that one field. Do not add a currency symbol when stored values already include it.

For VAT wording or other statements that should not repeat beside every price, add a fixed text layer to the page, feed container, header, or footer. Choose its repeat behavior according to where the statement must appear.

Multiple price formats

An item may contain several price layers. Arrange them as a row, column, or editorial composition, and add fixed labels or library icons when readers need help distinguishing the formats. The layout is not restricted to a predefined price block.

Verify before printing

  • Confirm stored decimal separators and currency symbols are consistent.
  • Test short and long item names against the price alignment.
  • Check items with one, several, and no price values.
  • Ensure the dotted title layer ends before the price layer.
  • Generate the PDF and inspect the price layout on overflow pages.
