Help and troubleshooting
This chapter starts from what you can see and works back to the smallest thing that needs correcting.
Before opening any article, do the two checks that explain most reports:
- Is the POM theme active? The entire event runtime — the content type, the pages, the shortcodes, registration — only loads on it. On another theme, events look deleted and are not.
- Look while signed out, in a private window, and reload once. What you see signed in is not what a visitor sees.
Find your symptom
| What you are seeing | Read |
|---|---|
| An event is missing from a list or a page | An event does not appear |
| There is no registration button or form | The registration form does not appear |
| Someone was put on the waiting list unexpectedly | A registration was wait-listed unexpectedly |
| A paid order produced no attendee | An attendee was not created after a purchase |
| The calendar is empty or does not render | The calendar does not load |
| Dates or times are wrong | Dates or times are wrong |
| Nobody received a confirmation | Emails and confirmation expectations |
| You are about to contact support | Safe information to send with a support request |
The layers a symptom comes from
Naming the layer first resolves most of the diagnosis:
- The theme — no POM theme, no event runtime.
- The event — its status, its dates, its own settings.
- The site settings — attendee functionality, archive and single-event options.
- The page — whether a shortcode is placed where you think it is.
- A cache — the browser, a page cache or a CDN serving an older copy.
Three behaviors that are not faults
A finished event disappears from lists. Events whose end date has passed leave the upcoming list automatically. The page is still reachable.
No emails are sent, ever. POM Events has no confirmation, reminder or notification email. This is by design, not a broken configuration.
Nothing is promoted automatically. Waiting-list registrations move only when someone moves them, and the person is notified only if someone writes to them.
Two things that are permanent
Deleting a cancelled registration cannot be undone.
Deleting an event takes its attendee list with it.
Export before either.
When the cause is outside POM Events
- The theme, as above.
- WooCommerce configuration, for anything about payment, checkout or order emails.
- The site timezone, for anything about times.
- A page cache or CDN, for content that is correct in the admin and stale in public.
