Install and activate POM Events

Installation is ordinary, but the verification afterwards is what matters: a plugin that is active on the wrong theme looks installed and does nothing.

Before you start

  1. Confirm the POM theme is active — see Requirements and compatibility.
  2. Have the production ZIP from your POM account.
  3. Have the license key ready, from My Account → Licenses & Downloads at account.pom.es.
  4. Know the site timezone under Settings → General and correct it first if needed.

Install the plugin

On a single-site installation:

  1. Open Plugins → Add Plugin.
  2. Select Upload Plugin.
  3. Upload the POM Events ZIP and install it.
  4. Select Activate Plugin.

On multisite:

  1. Open Network Admin → Plugins → Add Plugin.
  2. Select Upload Plugin.
  3. Upload the ZIP and install it.
  4. Return to Network Admin → Plugins.
  5. Select Network Activate, or activate it on the main site and on each site that needs events.

Use the official release ZIP. It contains the bundled runtime dependencies; a partial copy produces a settings screen that reports POM Framework is unavailable.

Verify the installation

Four checks, in this order:

  1. Events appears in the sidebar. A calendar icon, with All Events, Add New, Event types, Categories and Tags beneath it. If it is missing, the active theme is not POM.
  2. Settings → POM Events opens with the General, Archive, Single event and License sections.
  3. The events archive resolves. If event URLs return a not-found error, open Settings → Permalinks and save once to refresh the rewrite rules.
  4. No POM Framework error is shown on the settings screen.

Activate the license

Open Settings → POM Events → License, paste the key from your POM account, and save and validate it.

The key authorizes this domain and enables private updates. On a multisite subsite, the section also states the network requirement: POM Events must be active on the main site and the network license configured from there.

Make the first configuration decision

Open Settings → POM Events → General.

Totally disable event attendees functionality decides whether this site uses the built-in registration at all. Leave it off if the site takes registrations; turn it on if events are announcements only.

Turning it on removes, everywhere: the event's registration form and attendants panels, the registration button, the attendee list, the Assistants column on the events list, and the capacity and waiting-list logic.

Make this decision now. Changing it after events exist changes what visitors see on every event at once.

Set the archive defaults

Open Settings → POM Events → Archive and set at least:

  • Posts per page — how many events a list shows before Load more events appears. The default is 12.
  • Events thumbnail placeholder — the image used for events with no featured image.
  • Error message — the text shown when a search returns nothing.

These apply to every event list on the site.

What activation does not do

  • It does not create any events.
  • It does not add an event list to any page — you place the shortcodes yourself.
  • It does not send emails, then or ever.
  • It does not migrate content from another events plugin.

Installation result

A complete installation has:

  • POM Events active, on a site running the POM theme;
  • Settings → POM Events reachable with all four sections;
  • a valid license for this domain;
  • the attendee decision made;
  • archive defaults saved;
  • event URLs resolving.
